The Learning Center is currently looking for Work Study tutors for a variety of classes. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, first check with Financial Aid to determine if you are work study eligible. If so, contact Chip Evans at (248) 276-8241 or

The Learning Support Center at Baker College of Auburn Hills is dedicated to supporting students in their continued success at Baker College. We do this by offering free tutoring services, open computer access and support, and online tutorial support.

Our mission is to assist students in navigating the transitions and meeting the challenges of their college careers.

Google+ Hangouts

Have questions but can’t make it in to see a tutor?

You can now meet with a tutor remotely via Google Hangouts!

Get help from a tutor in real time from the comfort of your home via your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

To receive tutoring remotely via Google Hangouts, first schedule your tutoring session as you normally would. Make sure to let us know you would like to do it remotely and provide us with your gmail address.

In order to use Google Hangouts on your computer you will need:

1.       A Google+ account

2.      Google Chrome installed

3.      A webcam and microphone

4.      External speakers will be helpful

Once you have the above items, complete the following steps in order to access Hangouts.

1.       Visit the web page:

2.       Look for the following button:                                                                  

3.       Click this button in order to download the plug ins. You should see a Hangouts window in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

4.       If you would like to use Hangout on your tablet or smartphone, visit your app store and search for the Google Hangout app.

To access the Tutoring session:

Log on to Hangouts at your scheduled appointment time. The Learning Center will initiate the tutoring session by creating a new hangout. You should get notification when this happens.
