In a report, you may need to draw on other researchers’ ideas in order to:

• demonstrate your understanding of the topic in general
• show the context of your experiment/project and what research has already been done in the same area
• provide support for statements that you make about, for example, the suitability of methods.

When looking for and using sources:

• don’t just rely on the internet! If you do use the internet, be use to use only .edu, .org, and .gov. Avoid .com. 
• use peer-reviewed journals and good quality, academic texts
• paraphrase effectively and reference accurately 
• contact the Baker College Library to help you to locate materials
