What is UbD? What is the Baker College curriculum design process?
Understanding by Design (UbD) is a backward design process where you start with the end in mind. You may be just curious about the process, or you are being asked to attend a design meeting (Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, etc.), or participate in a CRIP (curriculum review and improvement process) design of a new or existing course, or maybe you are leading a curriculum design meeting - there is information provided here that can help you understand and carry out your role.
Baker College has an Instructional Design team (ID) that can support you through this process. Here is a list of the ID members who work on this process: Kelly Clark Becky Richmond
As with any set of instructions, there can be a lot of it, and knowing where to start and how to access each part of the process when you need that information is critical. There is a workflow that makes sense for the curriculum design process as well.
You are in the "Start Here" tab; there is information listed in the preferred order of access, for you to go through before you move forward. After you explore the items listed below, move to the "Stage 1" tab. Follow the tabs as you need them based on the specific role or responsibility you have in this design process.
Finally, there are some additional items related to making the course "accessible" to all students and instructors to explore in the "Accessibility - ADA Compliance" tab.
